2015-2019
This body of work begins a study into colony structures and diversity of lifestyle (think symbiotic relationships in cohabitating organisms). Focusing specifically on Della Bitta’s observations of lichenometry, environment, colony formations, habitat, and proliferation of these organisms, each work offers a unique combination of unexpected materials like fabric and steel. The time spent exploring these organisms and the habitats they build have led a juxtaposition between organic and human-built structures. Choices of materials including fabric, reflect Della Bitta’s interest in the personal, behavioral, and environmental.
